what do you think?

I am still hesitant to register more of my list of arabic IDNs. Should I do register or wait? I found many generic domains with low overture (few hundred) but high google results (more than 1 million...I am not sure if you call it high), but I am hesitant on their value. What do you guys think? They are .com too.

Re: what do you think?

if you won't get them for 8$

someone else will soon , and you will feel sorry in the future when you offer him 100$ for one of those and he reply with 10,000$ counteroffer

so if you have the money right now, it is better to act fast

Aboujouj, you have said that you are a native speaker in Arabic.

In my books, this means you have a distinct advantage over a non-native Arabic speaking domainer.

As long as your keywords are on the mark (e.g. money, finance, holiday, airfare, etc.), you really can't go wrong.

Comments have been made on IDNF regarding the recent surge in Arabic domain resale values.

If they only cost you $7-$8 each to register, and you can afford it...you haven't got much to lose friend! And perhaps $x,xxx, xxx's to gain!

That's just my humble opinion

Re: what do you think?

I agree with the others. Ovt of a few hundred is not bad for Arabic terms. If the terms are good - you should be able to tell that being a native speaker, and used - Google should be able to tell you that, than go for it. If you even get 1 good name out of 10 registrations than it was worth the cost. And you being a native speaker I'm guessing you'll do much better than 1 out of 10 .

Remember Olney's rule - don't hesistate. Do your research, but don't hesistate.

Re: what do you think?

Thanks guys! I will register one soon and tell u about it. It's not commercial but I think arabs like these people...let me register it first

Aboujouj

Here it is: الشعراء.com means "the poets" (شعراء was taken)
overture: 280
Google results: a little over 2 Millions

Arabs like poems and poets a lot. It's in our history and tradition.

What do you guys think?

This was number one on my list...I have others too...I will act soon

Should I register food related names?

Thanks,
Aboujouj

He is the guy that runs this forum and almost certainly regrets sitting on his hands when he could have regged some really good domains. When I was plundering Japanese Geographic terms, Olney was urging caution. He has been catching up a bit lately though!

I don't have any food domains myself, especially in Arabic, so I wouldn't know.

But if you can get "recipes" it should be a good one if it's not gone by now.

What i would say is that one should not regret what one has or has not done so far. Myself, i've done many things which i could have not done and made more money, but which is necessary for the market to develop.

1. Sold 18 japanese cities for mid $xx each in Dec - it took me 2 weeks to sell as everyone in this forum then were "strictly resellers only". I believe that this might be the very first significant public sale done for IDNs.

2. Post a couple of .TVs i registered in January and kicked off the interest from there. I could have taken all those adult, news, sports, but i decide to move on.

3. Put a few Taiwanese cities i registered on showcase in idnclub - within a few days, the rest that were available, including .net were snapped up.

You may be giving yourself too much credit

Also, the thread shows one of the many arguments with jeff. (sorry buddy)

Actually, I think you and I had a debate at one point in time about .tvs on this forum (cough, cough)

Re: what do you think?

People on this forum like yourself were already into spanish, portuguese.tv even last year - this isn't new thing.

But tell me who started the interest on chinese and japanese .tv? Check out idnclub as well.

And who really kicked off the secondary market for idns?

I must give credit for Olney and Dave for starting this forum, or we won't be able to have a secondary market with the kind of hostility towards idns on DNF then in Dec.

Yes, but there were plenty registered before then!

Have some Kebabs.

On a side note, I heard that a single latin letter .com sold for 15,000 euros in early 2005, anyone else hear this?

Sorry for killing the thread
