cmon grubstaker, TM are many still available. thats why in the first place u found domains with such ovt. available. reason, nobody want them and the few who take them i dont think are interested in paying such sum when u can buy several countries or great cities in .com with less money! $XXX.XXX?

C&D's wont take long to start appearing and people like the above company, disney, et al will take these name away.
I would take my $xxx,xxx and buy a few countries (In six/eight months $xxx,xxx wont even get you a small hamlet....

The problem it's a .NET - Yamaha won't want a .NET for it's website. No big corp will use a .NET.

Doesn't leave much purpose for such a domain..... one possibility is a hobby website for a Yamaha enthusiast.

They are going to want BOTH the .net and .com. This one is probably a TM hot potato, especially being in Japan.

Being that "Yamaha" is - correct me if I'm wrong - a surname in Japan, there are probably plenty of ways to use this name in a non-TM-infringing way.

I'm just can't for the life of me think of one that would make it worth shelling out $nnn,nnn for the name in the first place.

Not in Katakana, it isn't. The only Yamaha(s) spelled that way are companies.
