Dynadot

Read this - it may change your mind about using dynadot for your valuable domains

What else can I say. As most of you know I was hacked 2 weeks ago and I've lost domains.

Not nice. They are perfect, only we are to blame if something goes wrong.

Re: Dynadot

The site design could disallow weak passwords. The site maintainers could take some time and try a security audit. The site admins could focus on working with the victim. And yes, the victim can take a few minutes to devise a safe password system.

Yeah, it's that old holiday classic - my using safe passwords stump speech again, just like here: http://www.idnforums.com/forums/2108...ight=passwords

Come up with a system that generates unique passwords for every site, based in part on the domain and extension of the site. The example I always gives is a simple series of 3 operations on the domain name itself in whatever order you prefer:

1. letter substitutions (L => 1, or Z => 2R6, or A => B ... whatever)
2. string manipulations (shift 2 chars off one end, replace on the other end, or reverse the order of chars 2,3,4 or anything else)
3. inserting non-alphanumerics, either as letter substitutions, appending or prepending, or using to delimit words for multi-word strings

Re: Dynadot

That's where Fabulous is good now. They ENFORCE strong passwords.

If must contain upper and lowercase letters and number and cannot be a dictionary word.

EVERY Registrar should be doing the same

Re: Dynadot

And now they are down! We SHOULD be worried when the MAIN page of a company gets offline so often.

Has been working for me. Maybe a router is down somewhere between you and Dynadot?

Re: Dynadot

Works for me, too. But their position on security does not fill me with confidence. Maybe time for another switch. Dang.
