There shouldn't be any problems hosting IDNs and definitely shouldn't be a surcharge.

Just make sure you use the punycode (xn--xxx.com) when you configure the domain at the host. That's one of the reasons the punycode is there - to make IDNs compatible with all the infrastructure already in place.
