IE 7.0 is effectively here already.

Thanks Old IDNer for pointing this out!

Remarkably, although it is stll marked Beta 2, it is actually more or less being pushed as the Internet Explorer. IE 6.0 has more or less been buried!

Go to the main Window Page

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/default.mspx

Under Technologies You have the Option Internet Explorer (either right or left hand side)

Clicking on this takes you straight to the IE 7.0 Download Page. Only then do you see an Option for IE 6.0, If you click on that the first link you get to is EI 7.0 again!

If from the Windows Page you click the XP Home Page. What do you get? Surprise, Surprise you get IE 7.0.

IE 7.0 is now the De Facto Default Web Browser Option for XP. They really could not be pushing it harder, without including it on the Automatic Update Feature.

Well it appears the rest of us were spared until the afternoon. Still Mind Blowing and Thanks for the Great Tidings!

Looking good on the frontpage !

It should be a matter of weeks untill IE6 is fully replaced by IE7 in terms of user statistics, is there any place where we can check that more or less ?

Seems that IDN is not being exhorted as a feature - anti-phishing feature for IDN is however, being highlighted.

The slant on this will change as it goes East. What is the point of pushing IDN to a US audience. They have already largely shown that the concept is beyond the vast majority. Furthmore, it is substantially irrelevant to them, so what would be the point of labouring the issue?

Re: IE 7.0 is effectively here already.

The only Americans (AFAIK) who need IDN are the Hawaiians. And the IETF is pushing to ban their glottal stop from IDN names, so I'm not sure what they'll think of that!
