Just like italy - 義大利 / 意大利 which is correct? Actualy the latter one is more common, but someone sold the less common one fast in DNForum. I can't say it is wrong because it is just a translation in another form.

高尔夫 seems to also mean "golf" - and gets close to 7,000,000 google results.

哥尔夫球 is only used by a few Cantonese and it is a trillion miles away from being popular in HK.

"哥" is pronounced closed to "golf" in Cantonese but not so in Mandarin. 哥尔夫球 is never used by Mandarin speakers.

Both 義 and 意 have similar pronounciation in both Mandarin and Cantonese. Both 義大利 and 意大利 are formally used for "Italy". 意大利 is much more popular.

Both 新加坡 & 星加坡 for "Sinapore" are acceptable. 新加坡 is more formal and popular.

BUT, 哥尔夫球 has never been accepted as a formal term.

No doubt, we will see more these type of sellings -- cheatings that are defensible.

哥尔夫球 is indeed used in HK - i just checked HK OVT, at least for the traditional chinese form.

I do not know if unregistered is aware that term is not used in China. Native speakers generally do not check online translators - and all those verification tools, google, ovt, etc,.... and terms used in China vary even from city to city.

Like, if 星加坡 is the acceptable form, i never knew that because it's not used in the place i live in, at least the past 2 decades, though, it might be used in China, Chinatowns in the West, or Taiwan, etc.

Check 哥爾夫球. The 2nd character has a traditional form. I checked TW as well, no score.

We have mentioned so many times, that whenever we sell an IDN domain it is compulsary to list its usage. If enough info is listed and the buyer still wants it then it's not the seller's fault.

哥爾夫球 in its Traditional Chinese is a HK Cantonese term, and is only used by a fraction of the people in Hong Kong. When it's in Simplified form it's used by nobody.

That's very nice of him. It helps the market confidence with sellers offering more information and guarantees.

These kind of translation mistakes happen a lot. For example, "泊车" which I put up for sale means "parking",
but "停车" is more popular. I didn't know when I registered it, and would never have known unless someone
told me. That said, I still like "泊车" better than the other one.
