Shucks! I must be slipping.

What the arrogant tosser does not realize is that it is not the Internet we are talking about, it is the World Wide Web. And that was invented by a Brit. Another example of American revisionism.

I have been getting a kick out of reading the comments on all these different articles. We should create a post with all the different articles of the last few days compiled in one place for future reference.

I liked this comment. He gets it!

"Time to figure out how to type in Japanese characters (friends do it...) but I will say this... this will be the end of Engrish domain names...
www.happyplaceofhappy.jp ::sob:: (just made that up, if it's porn... sorry.)"

Yep, he got well and truly hammered on his own blog, and probably not an IDNer in sight.

Re: And the bigot of the week award goes to...

The phishing example is fucking ridiculous. I don't even click links to "Paypal.com" sent from fucking Paypal let alone to wander off on the net clicking here and there and magicly logging in. That argument is the reason why so many morons fall victim to fraud.

If you're clicking around and still logging in without going DIRECTLY to the intended "important" websites (IE: banks, school accounts, e-mail) you deserve to be frauded against.

Might seem harsh, but seriously... this is 2009 where people are shooting out 30 million spam e-mails a day trying to get me to sign up for their viagra pills monthly subsciption.

I just wish I had the patience to sign up and comment the way Clotho did. Respect

P.S: Person that wrote the article is an ignorant moron. And I hope he sees this comment.

Cheers to all.

Hey thanks! I appreciate that.

I can see that article got your dander up. I think a certain amount of 'sky is falling' is to be expected. People are trained to be timid sheep these days. They just need to be shown the bigger picture. btw. frauded against = defrauded. Not being a grammer nazi or anything. Just trying to help.

Here is another article at PCWorld: http://www.pcworld.com/article/18105...l_domains.html

Correct me if this has been linked already. There have been so many I'm starting to lose track.

They sent out 30 million a day 5 years ago. Now they send out 30 million a minute. Botnets have got to be one of the most powerful things ever invented.

Re: And the bigot of the week award goes to...

The writer of that article, David Coursey, seems to be real moron. His ignorance shows with this comment:

Quote:
It also worries me that the Internet, which once brought people together, may start to fracture along character-set lines.
The only thing fractured seems to be his skull.

Just as English-only speakers don't usually visit websites written in other languages, they still won't visit when their websites have web addresses in their respective languages.

The word "fracture," as a reference to the Internet, is usually used to describe an alternate root, or some other technical issue that would make some websites inaccessable between different Internet users. Not because some doofus can't or doesn't wish to type in a non-English web address.

Q: If domainers are confused (about IDNs), do you think Joe Arab will be confused?

A: You got it, man. I watched a clip yesterday on CNN, and they had some domain/IP lawyer "expert" and he did not give me a very good feeling with his explanation...mostly because he didn't really say anything concrete.

This clip was definitely for non-domainers, under the guise of "the domain world is 'opening up' with lots of new opportunities to get the name you want."...what he didn't say is, "But, it's gonna be in Farsi." What Mr. Expert did say, which has me concerned as a brander and TM holder, is: Jesus H., how many MORE names am I gonna have to reg to protect my IP? When does this BS end?
END QUOTE.

Well....they all gonna be surprised to find their isn't much left to register, and there whatever they hoped to protect is registered too. I guess it isn't too late to grab a Russian wife and get in on the idn.rf action. :p

Re: And the bigot of the week award goes to...

Clotho or Alexd, please reply again in that thread, replying to justchat1

####

Hey justchat1 - if you'e so concerned about phishing domains such as ƿaypal.com why don't you go and register it and give it to paypal for a present.

Please note that if you decide to do that, when you try to register it you won't be able to because the registry (Verisign) blocks attempts to register such obvious phishing domains.

Which makes your entire post a fallacy.

and "algotechie" who said "So many people browse the internet on devices other than a computer, such as a mobile phone. Not all those devices are flexible enough to provide the user with the characters in all the languages. Even if they were, it would be very difficult to actually hunt for each character to type it."

Sparky, Korean cell phone users don't use english language cellphones, they use korean ones and they have no trouble typing Korean with them. Likewise other non-latin language users. So your entire post is a fallacy too.

In fact most if not all the "anti IDN" posts are either fallacy, bigotry or just plain confused.

The PCWorld site is one of the easier ones to register and comment at. You could have done that yourself with about as much ease.

Therein lies the problem of figuring out which it is.

If he is trolling he is doing a damn great job at it. Which takes a little intellegence to pull off and look authentic.

If he's a complete idiot then his trolling wouldn't be as believable as it really is that someone could be that f-ing stupid.

I'm still on the fence.
