Tired of IDN news?
Get used to it
It is nice to finally see what has been said here for years on CNN.
I think it is the 1st time in IDN history to get more then 1,000 news sources reporting within 20-30 hours ( http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&so...-8&sa=N&tab=wn )
Nice image in this one: http://asia.cnet.com/blogs/sinobytes...4&scid=rvhm_ms
Quick, Go Register "Porn.com" In Cyrillic http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/...c_2009_10.html
I think someone did already and it gets more then 60k uniques monthly.
We got competition lol: http://www.non-latinletterdomains.com/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdthisJbfEA With Russia's cctld director Mr. Kolesnikov and Mr. Beckstrom
IMO, reading some arguments on other posts, starting from the end:
It is impossible registrant A owns i.e Cougar .com in Chinese,Russian or Farsi and a different registrant B owns the idn.idn equivalents to these only because it will cause user confusion and that is definitely not an option.
To me, the only missing variants at the moment are the date the idn gTLD's are getting aliased and rather it will be free , fractional cost or cost like a new registration for the idn.idn versions.

At least, Kathimerini took the time to write more comprehensive and correct stuff than all the other Greek news sources I've read so far, who seem to simply regurgitate the same stuff from the same original source.
Also, that same article mentions that China and Thailand have implemented the system already.
I wasn't aware that Thailand was using dot Thai in the same respect as China.
Can anyone confirm this.

Some more from Israel:
http://www.themarker.com/tmc/article...=ht20091030_14
searchengines.ru on IDN's from last week, 2 threads with 30 pages in them.
So when and where is the 1st IDN conference?

The 1st IDN conference will likely be held after the next significant 'Internet Upgrade' ie. IDN.IDN for gTLD's
The first point to ponder is: Do we allow ASCII domains in our 'Premium Auction'?
The second point is, which one of us has enough bad fashion sense to put the whole thing together?

I vote Montreaux, Switzerland, preferably just prior to the start of the Jazz Festival.
Kill 2 birds with one stone.

No, Thailand doesn't have its "own" IDN system at the moment. There was a feeble attempt a few years ago but it fizzled out. You'd need strong government to implement that kind of project successfully ;-)

Maybe you can write an article entitled: How to "type in" a Greek.com.

Well, we have to be there on Thursday because that's Texas Hold'em night at the Casino.
Then you'll pretend to not know how to play poker (again) and if I don't make enough money off you to buy the phone for you, I'll play "name the punycode" with Alpha to make up the difference.
