It is starting to be clear how the reserved list will look when generic domains like Blog .rf are already announced as one of the reserved names.

It was a big day in Russia yesterday. The comment boards were buzzing on the mail.ru story. I was up half the night watching some of it transpire.

The amount of news in the past 30 days is more then i would ever imagine and it's months away from anything in the root and around the root implementation time the news will likely grow drastically.

May I ask what's the difference between a registered .rf and a reserved .rf ?

Something really smells bad here. From one hand it was stated that only TM holders and government can get names on priority registration period. Also there were supposedly no adult related names allowed. The only thing they didn't say is that they will grant TM's on words like sport,football and sex.

I want to believe we still don't know all the facts and personally believe we will see this corrected.

They will hopefully do the right thing, revoke those approved TM's which were specifically registered to get these .рф names and play fair. It's a lot to expect from the Russian government but will see what happens.

P.S Check the bank accounts and flooring of whoever approved these trademarks.

Based on this, A company was successful in registering trademarks to several generics like realestate and with that was able to get the .rf domains. The director of cctld.ru is quoted as saying that is legit...
More then 3000 were registered, 640 to the government and the rest by trademarks (but now with this new definition to trademark i don't know what will still be left for the dutch auction days.

This is going to be interesting because the TM they got for sex is granted on basis /under the luggage, handbags category/class. So maybe now the pornstar won't have nothing but a handbag on.

It is sad that the russian trademark office is being abused or corrupted to
permit this abuse to commence....right off at the start....

but the Net is a powerful tool....

No doubt the governing body will investigate that... they need to cuz they're losing huge amount of money. If I understand correctly, premium keywords were regged for 1200 rubbles instead of the estimated millions during the dutch auction.
