Re: New Symbol Characters in Unicode
Yes, but this has nothing to do with what will find its way into the DNS.

Great point RD. No point talking about (or conferring value upon) things that can not be typed... Visually, i'm sure they are very impressive but from a practical standpoint they're about as much use as a choccie teapot

Don't underestimate the value of user linking and cut and paste to high value "symbol" domains by Europeans and Americans. It does happened, and even if they can't type it, hundreds of European and American visitors a day come to some "symbol" domains.

Blast, I have read many of your posts and do like your ideas and insights. I agree that the future may hold some possibilities for untypeable 'symbol' names, but you have to agree that for now they are practically worthless.
Yes, they can sell for a nominal amount, to the unweary, but then so can any domain.
Only well-known typeable symbols bring in hundreds of hits a day, untypeable then you're looking at nominal hits per month (at best).
Cheers,

Re: New Symbol Characters in Unicode
Unlike symbol domains, Runic Symbols are approved characters for IDNs. I think you can type any unicode with alt-codes.
