For the Greek Speakers

αθλητικά.com

I believe it is "sports" or something similar.

Can anyone confirm?

Sports Ads do appear on google.gr

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

Re: For the Greek Speakers

Looks like 'athletics' to me. Very nice.

If you sound out the word it's - athletica.

Re: For the Greek Speakers

correct me if I'm wrong (probably the case), but isn't that the adjectival form. aka. athletically ie. she runs athletically.

I think it should be αθλητισμός although there's no ovt for that term and there is ovt for the previous.

I think fabfive or yanni will probably be a better source than I would.

Correct, αθλητισμός is athletics if you wanna go for that.

αθλητικά would be mostly used in conjuction with other words such as shoes, news(mostly), clothes etc. as in "sports shoes".

It's not a total loss though as a store, say, selling sporting products, could use the term as stand alone.
When reading a newspaper if someone asks you for the sports section, he would use "αθλητικά".

See if you can also get "Αθλητικά Νέα" for sports news.

Re: For the Greek Speakers

Thanks guys for the comments.

Interesting enough αθλητικά has more ads, more Google results and higher overture than αθλητισμός, so I am a bit perplexed.

I have one final term that I cannot translate properly. If anyone is willing to offer some assistance again, it would be very much appreciated.

εκδόσεις.com

Re: For the Greek Speakers

I think a literal interpretation would be "publications", but likely referring to a publisher.

notice the first result in google is Εκδόσεις Καστανιώτη, which if i'm understanding this correctly would be "Kastanioti Publications" the name of the publishers.

Re: For the Greek Speakers

Don't be perplexed. Instead of αθλητισμός a person would search for σπόρ (sports; borrowed word) or for the sport of their particular interest instead of the generic term.

Actually αθλητισμός is more often used in relation to classical sports and soccer is not a classical sport

As far as εκδόσεις goes, you've got a good one here: Literally means "publications". If you pick up any Greek book or other printed material, you'll see the word at the bottom followed by the name of the publishing company, as in "published by".
Pretty solid imo.

Gatorgrad is correct. Wow, it took me ten minutes to write this message That's what happens when you're doing too many tasks at the same time...

P.S. BTW, The owner of Εκδόσεις Καστανιώτη is a somewhat of an acquaintance of mine. Not in the best terms cause he's a cheap mofo. (sorry for the expletive)
