Maybe, but it does show that somebody with lots of money has at least worked out which market they need to target, however inept their approach.

Why is that

Imagine the millions who will want to learn Chinese in the coming years/decades. Remember, their potential clients don't know the language yet [besides the multitude of Chinese products they can sell to a wide audience], so the idn would not serve him as well.

Just as IDN is localized, so can be ASCII.

Re: CHINESE.COM was sold for US$1,138,434

"Sedo.com issued a brief press release yesterday (July 23) announcing they had brokered the sale of Chinese.com for $1 million. The price was actually higher than that. The deal was done in Euros - 810,001 of them to be exact - which at today's exchange rate translates to $1,120,008. That ranks as the 5th highest sale reported so far in 2007 and the 6th one to crack the 7-figure mark."

Sold again?

Re: CHINESE.COM was sold for US$1,138,434

I just want to make my post clear.

I didn't mean there won't be use or big sales for ascii. What I meant was ascii is going to have to start sharing the headlines with IDN for big sales.

I can see how it might have been confusing.

Cheers.

Didn't realize Chinese was a language. I have heard of Mandarin and Cantonese.

I would suspect this has much more to do with the takeaway market.

I've never to date seen an ad spot on tv which said 'Learn Cantonese'.
The call to action is 'Learn Chinese'. [see the second ad in line of the parked page]

On this part of the pond we call it take-out. And local businesses don't need an IDN for that, either.

Yes, you really need to get some Off-Licences over there. Perhaps that could help to revive the flagging retail sector.
