Xinjiang is the correct pinyin.

I'm surprised this went as high as $426. There's been far better drops recently. It just goes to confirm my suspicion that geo's are overpriced! I'm sticking with generic .com's.

Not overpriced, in demand. 75% of emails I get looking to buy idns are for geos.

Demand from who? End users or domainers?

I'm guessing it's domainers wanting to get a piece of the IDN pie, but having no knowledge of the target langauge, so preferring easily translatable geo's(or dictionary terms) over harder-to-translate generics.

I have got an offer from a Chinese native for RMB120,000 to buy a Chinese geo domain from me. That is $17500.

No idea, but so far no one offering up good enough offers. Of late, the majority have been from Arabic countries, I usually counter with offer to co-develop the name but so far no takers.

Interesting, quite sometime back, I had one keen buyer who was contemplating an offer to the tune of the price of a small apt in that city, I only replied out of courtesy, the truth is that collecting chinese cities is like a hobby to me, so i won't sell unless the price is extremely good.

Besides, $40,000 can't buy much in Singapore nowadays. Can't even buy a new Vios, or what they call a Yaris.

I remember when I lived in HK some 20 years ago a car parking space sold for US$100,000.

I'm not surprised, you must consider that the space required for a parking lot is not just the lot itself but also includes the road in front of the lot, so we're looking at about a couple hundred square feet per lot.

For a middle class HK property that costs $1500 a sq ft, the parking lot will cost half a million.
