Add any search engine to IE7

I finally badgered them enough on the IE7 blog. Here is the url to add any search provider you want on your IE7.

http://www.fiddlertool.com/ie7/searchbuilder.asp

I've already added all the yahoo (.cn, co.jp, .ru) and google (.cn, co.jp, .ru)

Add these lines to the tool and name them

Yahoo Japan

http://search.yahoo.co.jp/search?p=T..._v2&search.x=1

Yahoo China

http://www.yahoo.com.cn/search?p=TES..._www_hp_button

Yahoo Russia

http://ru.search.yahoo.com/search?p=...-t&ei=UTF-8&vc=

Google Japan

http://www.google.co.jp/search?hl=ja&q=TEST&lr=

Google China

http://www.google.com/search?hl=zh-CN&q=TEST&lr=

Google Russia

http://www.google.ru/search?hl=ru&q=TEST&lr=

Beware this truncates the links follow them then copy them.

Works with Overture Search also...

Add these to the tool

US Overture

http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear...=us&lang=en_US

JP Overture

http://inventory.overture.com/d/sear...=jp&lang=ja_JP

Yandex

http://wordstat.yandex.ru/advq?rpt=p...%F1%E5&regions=

This truncates the links follow them to copy the url.

Re: Add any search engine to IE7

Any implications on domains? Having too easy an access to a search engine will reduce type-in.

I don't think so. Type-ins come from natural curiosity. Say there's a site made called "currenttime.com" in japanese. People will check "time.com" also just to see what is on the site or as a typo. A search engine will never take that away. There are far more steps involved in searching for something than going directly to a url.
