From the New York Times: "The Content of Their Characters"

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/16/opinion/16domain.html

Quote:
This month, the organization that governs Internet domain names began allowing addresses without any Latin characters. Countries that use Cyrillic and Arabic characters were the first to change, with others on the way. Has the World Wide Web just become a little wider? Three writers offer their answers.

Re: From the New York Times: "The Content of Their Characters"

A good parallel comparison....
"Imagine what would have happened if the 12th-century Europeans who first encountered Hindu-Arabic numerals (0, 1, 2, 3) had rejected them as a foreign oddity and persisted with the cumbersome Roman numerals (IV, V). The extraordinary advances in mathematics made by Europeans would probably have been impossible" .

Mr. Fantoon, the Arabic professor pretty clearly has no experience in advertising, marketing or branding.

"Nationalist sentiment is behind the rejection of Latin script." - Manu Joseph

Wait, what? You're joking, right Manu?

So if the only language you know is that of your homeland you are a nationalist by heart? How does that work?

Elites despise technology they can't understand.
Combine this with their loathing of the commoner and or the poor.
Idn dot Idn on mobile is going to transform a billion lives in the next 12 to 18 months.
The extinction of the buggy whip was better reported.
