Won't they will simply just allocate them the same IP number?

When you register a dot cn you automatically get all possible variants eg

http://拉夫堡大学.cn/
http://拉夫堡大學.cn/
http://拉夫堡大学.中国/
http://拉夫堡大學.中国/
http://拉夫堡大学.中國/
http://拉夫堡大學.中國/

Each of these could resolve to the same address or different addresses. It depends how you set up your DNS. We have set up our DNS so all the above resolve to the same IP address.

Then add Virtual Hosting into the mix and there are all sorts of possible combinations of addresses, servers and websites.

Andre..

thank you for posting.

worked fine in Chrome/IE8/ Firefox whitelisted

yes, a great and historic day.

Now, we need a post from a Chinese domainer in PRC to post that
Chinese IDN.com 's are no longer hacked to dot com dot cn and arrive at the Verisign registry names.

It's 930 am, but I am eyeing the Talisker for 1201 pm....

Yes I'm interested to know about that too.
Reading back in the archives I understand that the chinese traffic was really good before the hack.

André,
Could you give an example of the changes to your DNS in order for them to resolve. Do you use forwarding or A/C records?

Thanks,

Phio

Re: China idn ccTLDs are live

You can add all the variant domains to the name server individually, for example:

xn--simplified.cn
xn--traditional.cn
xn--simplified.xn--fiqs8s
xn--traditional.xn--fiqz9s

And then deal with forwarding, say xn--simplified.cn → xn--simplified.xn--fiqs8s, on the web server level.

This way it is possible to serve different content, simplified or traditional, depending on what domain name is entered.

Request to any IDNF member in China:

Please post if you can get to your IDN.com Chinese IDN's ....without the use of proxy.

thanks.

I don't think so, but it's party time anyway because this is the first idn ccTLD released that actually has significant pre-registrations, thus it is already the #1 IDNccTLD.

+1 on that. Maybe some kind of incentive would get some domainers in China to give us some updates

When you get back from your Taco Bell run, put the TW/SG/CN IDN cctld's in the root.
See you on Monday....thx in advance for double checking the XN dash dash shit for all 3.

Names are resolving and working fine in China at the moment.

But my ISP never had any hack before for .china, they just didn't resolve and went to a page not found error page, works great now though!

Re: China idn ccTLDs are live

www.google.cn and www.yahoo.cn both work

so I tried www.google.中国 and www.yahoo.中国 but do not work.

hmm... I wonder if its working only for some and not all?

Or is it not as simple as all .cn will work automatically?

Is it require to add google.xn--fiqs8s to nameserver before it will work? IF thats the case then google.cn and google.中国 can potentially resolve to 2 different websites. (not a huge problem, but I guess I prefer if it is mirror automatically... then idns will be popular more quickly.)

Yes, you have to add domain.xn--fiqs8s to the nameserver, and then host it, for it to start working.

xn--simplified.cn
xn--traditional.cn
xn--simplified.xn--fiqs8s
xn--traditional.xn--fiqz9s

Can all resolve to different websites.
