Exclamation idn.net

The title of this post reads " Verisign will be applying to several .com .net"

From the looks of the recent idn auction threads on this forum, I don't know why Verisign should even bother with idn.net as the price one would have to pay to activate an idn net would in most cases be superior to the market value of the idn itself. ($1!)

I don't really know why the nets are so undervalued. I think in most languages the .net idn version could become even more popular than .com since .net is, as you know, the short version of Internet and that could lead to some very interesting translations.

who knows indeed.

I think all you can be sure of, is that you can't be sure of anything - there will be some surprises in this game.

Re: idn.net

There is some room for .net in Thai but for the most part .com is still king in Thailand.

Re: idn.net

IMO
1. keywords rule even in dot net

2. Meaningful discussion occurs around cctlds vs com. if there is not a dominate cctld for a language then there is room for another extension to move up. I believe that dot net fits that bill for Arabic names, which cctld will battle dot com for supremacy in Arabic? don't know, therefore I think Arabic dot nets have a chance JMO

3. IMO dot nets are horribly undervalued. that is why I am still buying them.

Re: idn.net

Aaron that article totally rocked!

I have some nice .nets including some I bought from you Jose! But in general I've avoided them, and even dropped large numbers of them as the prospects for reselling them in my lifetime looked slim.

What I wonder is what some of you Japanese experts think of .NET domains prospects in Japanese?

My top sale barely made five figures, but I could probably give you reg fee on some of them.

Re: idn.net

Even if you held onto a .net for a few years $6 x 5 = $30...

You're telling me you couldn't find anyone to buy a premium .net for a minimum of $30?

Nonsense... just cause people here won't offer you more than that doesn't mean it won't happen.

private selling....

I'm sure you'll get a few hundred for some top top ones. Heck, give it some time and maybe $x,xxx

Yes, that's what I am saying.

Thanks for your comments, but please stop saying you still believe in idn.net.

We, the investors, don't think the end users will pay $100 for a premium, or else the secondary market would not be broken and I would get $50 for my .nets.

Just wait another year and then it will be gold. I have paid alot for some .net's because I believe there are suckers out there who will eventually pay more

Re: idn.net

Imo, the value of ".com"/".net" will be reshuffled based on the renewed connotation of the extensions. Now ".com" is a brand, it comes with a sound and an image, both will change, so will the strength of the brand it carries. However the ".com" will remain
to exist next to the translations and how the original will fare against the translations, well... this is speculation in a speculative market .

For now, .net's are registered 1:10 versus .com and that is more or less represented in the price..above a certain threshold that is and I think the aftermarket for .net doesn't exceed that threshold atm so it looks more grim than it actually is.
