I dont know off hand exactly what it means but you have to set your encoding to Unicode ( UTF-8 ) in your browser View Options

楽天 is rakuten, meaning optimism, as AM says above, but it's also the name for one of the largest e-commerce sites in Japan.

The association with rakuten the website is the reason the overture is so high.

楽天 is the leading internet shopping portal. Regging this word is like regging "amazon.com" - expect a cease & desist - big time if you take it.
