IE7 Japan - Right on Schedule (Almost)

Good News and Bad News

The Good News:

As stated on the MSDN blog, "We are also on track to deliver Japanese versions of IE7 Beta 2 on Monday, May 8th, at 9:00PM PST." Well the link to "Japan" is there (updated on their site, right on time):

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...e/default.mspx

Now The Bad News:

(at the time of this post) the link takes you to an error page: "We’re sorry, but there is no Microsoft.com Web page that matches your entry"

My guess is that they put the link to the page, before loading the new page - OR, the link URL is incorrect.

I would guess (or hope) that this is fixed shortly, so that Japanese IDNs will finally be "real."

Damn it you were waiting too.

Yeah, it's a bummer it's not ready yet.

I'm on the edge of my chair, fuming! Although, things might be different if we were dealing with a reputable company.

Re: IE7 Japan - Right on Schedule (Almost)

It's still not on here as far as I can tell.

http://www.microsoft.com/japan/windows/ie/default.mspx

Can anyone translate this in Japanese? I would really like to put this at the top of my Japanese Sites. I could attempt it but it would be full of grammatical errors.

"Download IE7 and type the url of this site directly into the browser. Download."

This is a translation of various texts from the Microsoft site from Japanese to English. So while the English may be a bit strange, the Japanese is official text.

A world of difference compared to the mentioning of idn's in relation to security issues only.

The word translates on systran to HURRAH! As in 'cheering'. We took the .com back in early April, no knowledge of anything to do with it appearing here. We have been searching and registering any possible brandable terms, this happened to be one of them.
OVT is 1270, interesting to see if that goes up...

This word is popularly known in English as BANZAI and is an old exclaimation for Chinese Emperors "[may He live and rule] Thousands of Years!"

Kind of like 'God Save the Queen!', 'Многи лета!' and other such expressions.

I was going to register it a few months ago but decided it was of lesser commercial value than some other words on my list.

So you can read it as IDN BANZAI. I made that part up. I think it would look silly if you put IDN BANZAI on your webpage though. LOL

This part comes from this page, not the download page:

Re: IE7 Japan - Right on Schedule (Almost)

No noticeable increase for Japanese when compared to the trend over the past 3 mths.

There seem to be some increment, not statistically significant though, for other languages.
