And if you factor in the lower USD, it's even worse.

In Molvania, this considered this a regressive form socialist enterprise and it is against the law. This is because every Molvanian is always making profits.

Re: Flowers.mobi sold for $6,500.00

yes with the tax loss, RS will be able to shield 45 to 55 % of 187,000 in capital gains from any of his other sales.

this is why buying and holding for 2 years, on any name is very important in the US, at least...

This permits the best tax treatment on a per name basis.

Could be his motivation at the moment. Tax relief can offset drop in cashflow.

That press release is such bollocks.
This part in particular ...

Quote:
"To better understand how the world's most popular websites are handling mobile phones, dotMobi looked closely at the top 500,000 websites as determined by Alexa, the Amazon.com intelligence company.

Within the Alexa top 1,000 sites, 40.1 percent of all sites are mobile-friendly. These sites represent the world's most popular Web properties, like Google, Facebook and Yahoo!

Beyond the top 1,000, mobile friendliness still holds strong but is not yet as widespread. Of the top 10,000 Alexa sites, 29.7 percent perform well on mobiles. Once the input data is broadened to include the top 500,000 sites, the total number of mobile-friendly sites drops to 19.3 percent. "
Being mobile-friendly doesn't mean running the website on a .mobi domain !! I'm curious as to how many of the top 500,000 websites in Alexa are actually on a .mobi domain - probably zero !!

By selling Flowers.mobi at this price, Rick Schwartz will be getting a hefty cut of his record earnings this year, when tax season arrives in March.
In other words, the $193,500 loss will be counted against the profit from the large sales that Rick Schwartz achieved in 2010.

Once again, you can’t fool the Domain King.

Re: Flowers.mobi sold for $6,500.00

The two websites that I know own their .mobi are weather.com and espn.com. I believe weather.com paid xxx,xxx for their dot mobi so they are still hanging on to it and using it, whereas espn.mobi just forwards you to m.espn.go.com, seems they could care less about .mobi. I think most top websites use .mobi as espn does assuming they know it exists.
