Please don't put adult affiliate links in signitures
I know I haven't written clear rules about signitures yet but please no adult links in signitures please.
I'm also going to have to extend it to pharmacy, viagra affiliates.
I think these are common rules on most forums.

Do you find my current Cupie Mayonnaise avatar to be offensive also?

I don't think that no porn links & no pharmacy affiliate ads is uncommon for most sites.
Your avatar is fine...
Also I live in Tokyo, not much is offensive to me personally....

Re: Please don't put adult affiliate links in signitures
" Rick Schwartz, . . . 52, began buying up domain names 10 years ago. Like many early players, he gravitated to where the money was: porn. He snapped up names like Ass.com, Makeout.com, and Porno.com, to name a few. It was a quick path to riches: Adult sites were paying handsomely for the traffic; mainstream sites were not -- at least not yet. "

Adult sites are still paying handsomely for traffic. Better than what Shanghai real estate affiliates, if there are any, are paying right now. Plus they work in English.
Forget PPC, how many of you made over $100 in IDN affiliate linking cash in the last month? Because that's what you can get with just 1 user signing up clicking through from your site.
Japan is the largest producer of porn in the world, and has the most diverse and inovative adult industry on all levels.
China is seeing a huge population sex ratio disparity. To put it bluntly: too many men, too few girls. There is going to be an even bigger market for adult content than ever before. Get ready now.
It's too bad this forum isn't as inovative as it could be to see the huge potential in this. Back in February I saw one Japanese guy leave this forum because of prudishness on here. I'll take that as a hint. Good luck you all.

Re: Please don't put adult affiliate links in signitures
I haven't restricted much in the forum.
Adult sites that you want to sell
Go head post them for sale I don't see the requirement for seperation.
Adult links in signitures is something else.

Ask how many people know they will make a profit because I took the time to write almost all the info I know on Japanese search, finding IDN Domains, & establishing the market. I think I gave a lot to the IDN community & no adult or pharmacy links in sigs is not an uncommon rule.

I'll rephrase this: so many of us have domains in the japanese porn industry, why wouldn't you allow adult affiliate links?
Exessive Western prudery killed the idea of the big Tokyo IDN conference on this forum... now you drive adult affiliate links away... too sad Olney...

Well, Rick was probably faced with a situation where most of the primary non-porn terms had already gone.
In terms of Online Porn Markets, I am not sure about Japan and China. I think the Grreat Firewall may put the mockers on it with Chinese. In Japan, I am not convinced that people want to pay to look at the screen when there is no real social barrier to going out and having a look or even sampling the real thing.
Personally, I would think that the largest potential markets are with Arabic which serves markets where Porn and Promiscuious Sex are a Taboo. The online environment will satisfy demand that cannot be satiated elsewhere.

There are "filters" in Arabic market as well, please use dating ads for sex domains.

Re: Please don't put adult affiliate links in signitures
I'll put it like this...
When a man works to build his house & tries to welcome other, if someone gets mad they can't walk around with a Playboy Magazine & a bottle of Viagra & questions the owner why they can't.
I've personally asked as respect to the forum...
No live adult links in sigsor live links to phamarcy sites in sigs. If anyone else thinks I'm prohibiting the progress of them doing business in IDN Domains well... I apologize... I didn't know Porn was the main focus of this venture... I thought expanding the knowledge of this business venture was...
Anyone else want to start erasing their sale threads because of this common forum rule? You guys can freely ask me to deactivate accounts...
But will the next forum you hop to let you have porn links in your signiture? DNF? nope, IDNPros? the post aren't even viewable if you're not logged in, NP? Won't even accept affiliate links.. Domainstate? I even had my IDNForums sig erased by them...
If you get mad by a forum rule at least get mad at a rule that you can do on other forums...

Don't think so. It's just that the adult industry was THE innovator in those days and they paid handsomely. Adult made the internet what it is today, in many respects.(video technology, faster speeds, etc)
Best business model for the net: Selling a product which is emotionally driven, instant gratification/delivery with no physical inventory.
Mainstream is still lagging today; lightyears behind adult.
We get happy with a $2.00 click, or even a $15.00 pay-out on a real estate lead, when a potential sale will result in (x)thousands of dollars in commissions.
Getting back to the subject matter though, Olney has the ultimate say in what goes on here. I don't think blastfromthepast should take it personally.
Ultimately, an adult section could be in order for such services to be promoted, to compensate for the absence in the signatures.
Or, otherwise, kill all self promotion in sigs and create a spam section for that.

Yes, but the market is highly segmented and only a few countries will be that well organised or even committed. None of them are going to be as effectively controlled as the PRC.
As for Olney, well he might be too modest to admit it, but he is GOD around here. If he says no there really is no argument, but I haven't ever seen one of his rulings to be unreasonable to date.

Re: Please don't put adult affiliate links in signitures
Well, coming from a place where rules are strictly enforced and implemented unilaterally, i'm used to doing what the "king" says without questions. Like i just filled up a stupid 200 questions survey form which is compulsory by law. Just filled in garblish.
So when an vigilent on DNF says that affiliate links aren't allowed on signatures, i just removed the ND link without questions.

Re: Please don't put adult affiliate links in signitures
The site is less than 1 year old... Every rule that should be written isn't.
As of now No live links in sigs to adult sites... No live links in sigs to sites that purpose is to sell pharmacy products.
I asked out of respect for the forum... If having an adult link in your sig is that important where are you going to sell your domains that's going to allow you to have an adult link?

Olney's forum, Olney's rules. QED.
Doesn't get any simpler than that!
