2011 Census of India

Provisional population data here :
http://www.censusindia.gov.in
http://www.censusindia.gov.in/2011-p...u_tot_2011.pdf

1.2 billion people up from 1 billion in 2001 (census) and 1.155 billion in 2009 (World Bank Estimate)

Female literacy rates now around 65 % up from about 40% 20 years ago according to the Economist [http://www.economist.com/node/18488344].

Should be interesting to see more detailed data come out in the coming months + see all the wikipedia pages being updated accordingly.

So now all the women read and write English as well?

Or can literacy have an alternative interpretation?

Not according to Schwartz it cannot. And he know pretty much everything.
