yeah, thought about it afterwards, could be a shelf company.
We know it's not Rick though, cuz the name of the LLC would have been in CAPS

Re: First five figure reported sales of HINDI IDN.com
Congrats Steve. Great sales indeed! I think it's a tradeoff between what you can do with the money today, go on a vacation with your wife and perhaps have a little of money left to reinvest in something else that could grow in value as well.
Based on Google Keyword tools alone, the term "कैसीनो" got about just 12 monthly searches. But with India's gambling market being estimated at $60 billion per year, the buyer is surely planning for the long haul and when more Hindi speakers come online then he will recoup his investment many times more.
More info from Wiki about Gambling in India at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambling_in_India
"Gambling in India is heavily restricted, although there is extensive illegal gambling throughout the country. The Indian gambling market is estimated to be worth US$60 billion per year, of which about half is illegally bet.[1]
Only two states allow casino gambling, Goa and Sikkim.[2] There is one casino in Sikkim and 12 in Goa, of which seven are land based and five are floating casinos that operate on the Mandovi River.
Other than lotteries, legal gambling in India is limited to betting on horse racing.
Online gambling is in its infancy in India, but Sikkim plans to offer three online gambling licences in 2010.[3] Sikkim also permits an online lottery, operated by Playwin, which takes bets from players throughout India. It is expected that other states will follow Sikkim shortly, thereby opening up a major online gambling market throughout India"

Yeah, could get more restricted ;-) many Asian countries are going the more not less restricted route.

Yeah, I think the OP posted the 'wrong' domain in post #1 which was maybe your other domain.
Again, congrats on the sale. Lets hope Sportal Systems develops it.
That could be a newsworthy attention getter for Indian IDN domain names.

Re: First five figure reported sales of HINDI IDN.com
Yes, that was totally my fault.
Due to the similiarity, I mistankenly posted the wrong one in a response to a thread over at INForum.
Before I was able to correct it, it was already posted here.
For the lurkers from DNForum, theres an example while still early, of what a $7.25 investment can get you.
Better than fighting for peanuts on ascii names that are questionable at best.
This is only the beginning.

Re: First five figure reported sales of HINDI IDN.com
Well, actually selling this domain at this price was probably a mistake.
I should know. I have made a few.

Well, selling anything whilst prices are on an upward curve is a "mistake" in simple economic terms (unless you can term the resulting capital into more than the difference between the "now" price and the eventual "optimum" price (which of course you never know until after it has been and gone)).
But for countless reasons, life is more complicated than that.
In terms of what it does psychologically, mainly for the Hindi market and for IDNs in general, I don't think its a mistake. If this was 2012 - 2015 sure, but netting $10K sure beats thumb-twiddling for another year, particularly if, like Steve, you have plenty more irons in the fire.

Re: First five figure reported sales of HINDI IDN.com
It was definitely a mistake selling for $10,000...but I have over 2,000 renewals and several other expenses to look after.
If I only had a few good domains...that deal doesn't get done, at that price.
But, I've loaded up over the last 5 years.

We are all perfect sellers in retrospect, but on the web, its a near impossible task, especially when you have no idea who you are talking to, what their budget is etc.
Just be happy you've made history with the first five figure Hindi domain sale. Nobody can rewrite history, though many try.

Re: First five figure reported sales of HINDI IDN.com
Just got turned down for DNJournal.
Response below:
Hi Steve:
Thanks for your note. This sale is now too old to include in our weekly sales report and the only older charts we maintain are annual top 100 charts which this sale would not be high enough to qualify for. Still a very nice IDN sale – congrats.
Best Wishes
Ron
