Apart from IDN-ccTLDs and IDN-gTLDs, who here really cares about new gTLDs?

Because these guys "tied their boat" to the idn.gTLD fast track and basically bogged the IDN momentum down while they tried used that leverage to push their agenda thru ICANN and GAC.

A bit of a long thread, but this hits on the issues, and Tina Dam responds as well.

Yeah, I know they were trying to kind of link them together on the same path, which to me, is moronic. Just as .biz, .us and .info had nothing to do with IDNs, new gTLDs shouldn't either, and each should have their own process, and IDNs should have been implemented several years ago already. The people running the show are full of morons, buffoons and circus clowns.

The basic problem is there is a whole load of shit talked at all levels.

This morning we were being told that the URL bar will diSappear and domains will cease to matter.

Now we are back on the crap of New TLDs destroying American business.

Which is it? They say it only takes two Frenchmen to have four opinions but Yanks obviously have much more severe schizophrenia tendancies.

Come on. Who needs additional gTLDs to infringe TMS. An almost infinite number ofinfringing domains are possible under dot com. But further SEO infringements are clearly possible withou any domains at all.

Come on wake up Morons!

Good article. I think the DAG will be adopted in Singapore. No substantial new issues were raised since SanFran + the US said they want the ICANN model to continue. Postponement would make little sense at this point, the remaining issues, i believe, are all black or white stuff with no proposed middle ground i.e. the tm clearing house includes strings that are exact matches of a TM, the Gac wants it to include tm+keyword - either the board follows gac advice on this or doesn't

the tm + keyword will fail in US courts at least.

the 'ibmsucks' case law is 15 years old now.

Because it won't make a damned bit of difference.

New gTLD is a done deal.

I consider it an EPIC FAIL of ICANN that you have to travel half way around the world to get your voice heard about Internet governance.
