yes it is. I think the Brits are quite happy with their group, it could have been a lot worse.

Not a chance, Czech Republic will kill them. They are on a roll after beating Russia at Ice Hockey, with all their key players absent, who apparently refused to play because they thought the coach was an idiot!

The US is one of the upcoming countries in soccer, they have excellent sport programmes for their youth and their mentality is well urrr fanatic, they need the dutch to sort out their strategy though :=) .

If you want fanatisism you need to go the African countries. Their stars are earning a fortune in Europe, whilst they can barely afford to watch it on telly.

The other problem is that there are an awful lot of countries out there that just want to beat the US for the shear hell of it!

The african countries always deliver physically strong teams and their stamina is unsurpassed, I don't see any reason why an african nation can't win the world cup.

I can't really give an expected result for the dutch group except that Argentina would be nr. 1 .

Re: The official World Cup 2006 Thread

If there is interest in it I will organise the

'IDNForums World Cup Pool 2006'

Rules are simple, there are 32 teams in the 2006 World Cup. Each entrant picks a number between 1 and 32 (First come first served) Each team will be assigned a random number between 1 and 32 and it is the luck of the draw which team you get.
Entry is $20 per number and the winner takes all! ($640 if all numbers sell)

As I will be running it I will refrain from picking a team so it is fair. All money is to be paid before a number is issued and I will be responsible for it and for paying out the winnings to the winner.
Money is to go to my paypal and the winner takes all apart from the paypal fees.

To keep it fair and to give everyone a shot at getting a number everyone gets to pick one number and if after 2 weeks there are still numbers available then you can pick another number.

I will assign the number to each team and my partner will pick the numbers.

What do you think?

Common be a little charitable, they will have a very impressive line up, even if it is only the Cheer Leaders!

Neptune... it's all pantomine disrespect. you may yet have the last laugh.

If I remember last time, America was way better than the joke people expected - I would expect them to have improved again on this...

.. lets see shall we.
