Re: Somewhere in Shanghai...
Great picture!
Both the old style (numeric) and the new (IDN)
The repeated character usually indicates a brand. Can anyone identify it?

Re: Somewhere in Shanghai...
In addition, i do not know if else yet noticed the advertisement on the taxi cab door which reads www.96822.com, which supports the article posted on here not too long ago how the chinese tend to buy #'s.com over ASCII names due to the fact that they find ASCII domain names more confusing.
Really good representation of both ideas. Thanks for the post.

Too bad that, as usual, they end up redirecting to the ascii demidodd.com

Well, this one at least lands on the IDN page. That's better than most others we have seen.
蝶蝶.com is a beautiful IDN. It's extremely easy to remember and full of impact.
Great post, Gamma.

can't blame them Jose.
They did the most important thing, they regged the name and got it out there in the wild.

Re: Somewhere in Shanghai...
Ha ha, I was just taking a photo of the IDN. I didn't even notice the numeric domain. But when Clotho pointed that out I noticed many other numeric domains, mostly used for telephone numbers. Impossible to recall of course.
The shop is a small boutique, nothing special.

Hehe clothing beat me to it. Didn't notice the fact that he pointed out the numeric name.

Re: Somewhere in Shanghai...
Once again a reminder to people that most domains registered are special non-generic terms dear to their owners' hearts, rather than generics, which are and continue to be clearly missed by all but the most domain savvy companies.

Re: Somewhere in Shanghai...
HAHA! There is wine all over my monitor now. I'm laughing so hard it is difficult to type.
You can call me Clothing if you wish I used to worry that I had chosen a forum name that was perhaps a bit too auspicious. The back story seemed so perfect it was to good to pass up. I happen to own a few Greek single char .com's so the whole alphabet line seemed to fit too.
That is a great picture Gamma. Even the positioning of the two names seems perfect. I bet you couldn't do that twice on purpose if you tried.
No offence taken IdnHost. Clothing... I jump in it!
Bwahahaha!

hehehe, yes i was laughing my eyeballs out my self when i read it, and thought oh oh, what if clotho takes this as an insult and takes it out on the new guy. Glad that were both laughing about it rather then throwing lyrical punches. Btw, im sorry about your monitor, and i hope you weren't wearing nice "clothing" bahaha
