Where to register IDNs

The sites we found that you can register IDN Domain names are:

www.domainsite

www.domainavenue.com

The prices vary for each service but so does what you get with each registered domain.

If you want to buy .cn domains for China you can get them at Domainsite
Onamae.com is a good place to register .jp domains but you have to have a Japan address.

Re: Where to register IDNs

How do I pay <$10 per domain at enom? Do I need a special sort of account?

what's the difference betwenn registering алфавит.com and it's xn-....com equivalent?
May be simply register xn--......com's ? Because it may be cheaper?

70% of the domains traded on this forum are domainsite, 10% dynadot, 10% enom and 10% other...(my best estimate).
Dynadot has a "cancellation" policy so if you are not sure about a reg that may be the way to go.

Try jp-domains.com for your Japanese registrations. They will take care of address issue, and IDNF members get a 2 for 1 deal, so each .jp is $20. (If you only want 1 .jp you still pay $40, then they reimburse you $20).

For .tv, IDOTZ is $10 cheaper than Domainsite with their current special...thanks to fabfive for that info

Re: Where to register IDNs

The best place to register domains is now Moniker.

Word on the street is, IDNers are even transfering thousands of domains over to them.

For .jp of course, jp-domains and value-domain.

Exclamation Re: Where to register IDNs

I used GoDaddy to reserve my first IDN domain through punycode and hosted it on dreamHost (Unlimited domains account).

Is this route ok because both godaddy and dreamhost do not support IDNs Directly. Am I missing something or it is ok. Please guide.

Your host is fine.

Your registrar isn't

I would go with moniker, dynadot or domainsite.
Moniker and dynadot will give you a discount if you purchase over $1,000 worth of domains.
At least I think that's the right amount. Maybe less.

I grew to absolutely hate domainsite's user interface, so I have almost exclusively started using dynadot since the past 3 months (except for ascii.info which is 1.99 at domainsite and 7.99 at dynadot). I am willing to pay $1 extra per .com/.net/.biz to operate in comfort on dynadot. Domainsite pulls in huge piles of cash, yet they don't update their crappy old 1999 style website. Blah.

Respected Yanni,
Kindly clarify what do you mean by not being FINE for registrar. If you mean GD is BST then I already know that and I am planning to change. I have around 200 domains for now. If you mean my domain registration has some problem then that is more dangerous.

Kindly guide
Best Regards,

Re: Where to register IDNs

Don't register IDNs at a registrar that doesn't specifically say they are IDN compatible.

Domainsite, Dynadot, Moniker, iDotz.net are a few that ARE IDN compatible ~ Godaddy are not

If you want a REALLY shitty interface try 1 and 1 Internet (we bought some ascii names about 2 years ago and that
was where the push was). I don't think they support IDN, thank god for sparing the world that dis-service 1 and 1.

Worst of all, their customer support rings to some prison in the third world where they ask for your topic or question, then (obviously) read to you from a script. When you rephrase the question they read you the same stock answer....again.
Complete losers!

Now here's the kicker...on their INTERFACE they don't display any domain expiration dates. Really!! No kidding!!
And their system does not even give you a way to find your expiration dates!! I am NOT kidding.

I have talked to technical support 3x in the last hour because I could not belive this is possible, and they told ME that
I would have to go name by name to who.is to get that info, and we have over 100 names there so this would
certainly take a while. This is pure 100% BS.

My 2 cents: stay away from 1 and 1 Internet!

Re: Where to register IDNs

Echo what's said above, but I would lean toward moniker and dynadot.

Moniker has the most powerful search UI among them, which makes changing parking nameservers a breeze. No need to create a list of domains to batch modify like you do with enom and domainsite.

Dynadot also has a great UI, especially cool when transferring domains to them. They do a countdown status barchart for each domain being transferred.

DomainSite has a great interface. It has none of the garbage that the newer interfaces have, just the controls to reg lots of domains, fast.

If you are regging 100 names an hour, and competing with others, you want to be in and out of the payment screen in a second to get the next batch.
