IE6 almost Dead in Thailand @3.3%, what about elsewhere?

Just to report that ie6 is almost dead in Thailand with just about 3.3% usage in Jan 2012. The total browser usage breakdown follows:

IE8 - 29.65% vs. 34.1% in Jan 2011
IE7 - 12.49% vs 23.35% in Jan 2011
IE6 - 3.3% vs 13.15% in Jan 2011
Firefox - 14.31% vs 15.55% in Jan 2011
Chrome - 24.86% vs 8.96% in Jan 2011
Safari - 6.19% vs 2.41% in Jan 2011
Others - 9.2% vs 2.48%

Source: http://truehits.net/graph/graph_stat.php#WEB

Overall with IE6@ 3.3%, this is great news for IDNs in Thailand. Specifically, Google Chrome is a rising star. Google's new office in Thailand has really been pushing people to use Chrome and it has worked with the browser growth rate @ 177%. Chrome also displays Thai unicode in the URL by default without needing to add the language. Adsense ppc should continue to rise now that Google is really aggressive in the Thai market space.

What are browser breakdowns like in other countries?

Cheers!

Wow 99.27% market share for google search engine? I had no idea Bing never even got to 1% and since Google's actively engaging Thailand, that'll likely remain the status quo for a while.

China:

2011-12 (stats by cnzz)
360 - 27.43% (claims to have 172 million monthly active users, 44.1% of Internet users in China in Jan 2011 securities filing)
ie 6 - 25%
ie 8 - 19.37%
so gou - 6.16%
ie 7 - 4.91%
ie 9 - 2.98%
safari - 2.89%
chrome - 2.68%
firefox - 1.87%
maxthon - 0.95%
...

2011-03-15 (stats by baidu)
ie 6 - 40.46%
360 18.43%
ie 8 15.96%
ie 7 9.77%
so gou 4.27%
chrome 2.29%
firefox 1.51%

so ie6 usage down quite a bit in China, but still pretty high - 25%.

Did recently see first IDN on a bilboard here in quite a while (nearly 3 years).

The most telling statistics are for IE8 which is in decline even before its successor has made an impact.

Shame that Nokia has backed Windodos.

Yeah Google search engine's share in Thailand has been 90%+ since 2004. Additionally, with the way it is growing, it is highly likely that within the next few months Chrome will overtake ie8 as the most preferred browser in the Thai market.

It so made sense for Google to have established a local office last year in Thailand with such a large share (near 100%) of Thailand's search engine market. Google has been partnering with small Thai businesses (SMEs) lately to provide free online presence, they are eyeing to push Thai businesses to go online to capitalize on the potential of making huge adsense income with the Thai population of about 70 million people.

Thais have always been willing and eager to switch to newer and better things quickly. Take for example, in July 2004, Google search engine had a market share of just 56.19% and within a month, their market share jumped to 91.13% (primarily because it returned much more relevant results) at the expense of Yahoo search engine which pretty much got wiped out of Thailand now. Similarly, I hope when Thai IDN.com goes IDN.IDN, it will be a "knockout" adoption like 555's analogy.
