Control - I can pull the trigger as soon as I get an offer I like instead of having to wait for an auction to run its course. That's better for me as I have a list of names I want and a self-imposed timescale to get them. I need to grow my portfolio off the back of sales as I've got enough money going into a related project - hence I have to sacrifice some great names to sales.
This is good for the buyers as they can get a great name at potentially
less than market value; auctions always end
at the market value.
This way, if I get an acceptable offer I can have several more domains in my account within a couple of days - I've seen auctions go on for weeks - one in particular that you know all about Monk
