British itching for war with Ecuador

British authorities have “warned” Ecuador that they could raid its embassy and arrest Julian Assange if he is not handed over.

First the Falklands, then Ecuador. I see a long-term plan to encircle Brazil.

Re: British itching for war with Ecuador

Hopefully they got the kahunas to bring him in under the international warrants from Switzerland.

Assange is a 'dead man walking' however it plays out.

Wikipedia: "On 30 May 2012 Assange lost his Supreme Court appeal in England to avoid extradition to Sweden though the court gave Assange a stay of 14 days on the extradition order. This final appeal to the Supreme court was rejected, and barring any appeal to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, extradition was to have taken place over a ten day period commencing on 28 June 2012. On 19 June Assange entered the Ecuadorian embassy in London, asserted he was being persecuted and requested political asylum, which was granted on 16 August. However, the British government has said he will be arrested if he tries to leave the embassy."

http://www.americanidioms.net/Dead-man-walking/

Ecuador's left-wing government is a bunch of nut cases. The countries population is about 14 million people (smaller than Tokyo city!)

There is quite a standoff.. If british storm the embassy as they promissed, this would equal declaration of war

LOOKS LIKE EQUADOR WANTS TO TEST BRITAIN'S RESOLVE.

Ecuador grants Assange asylum; UK vows to ‘carry out’ extradition anyway.

"British authorities are under a binding obligation to extradite him to Sweden," a spokesman for the office said. "We shall carry out that obligation. The Ecuadorean government's decision this afternoon does not change that."

It comes to something when Equador feels obliged to stand-up to the UK to defend freedom.

Still it's about time we stopped acting like a vassal state.

QUOTE FROM BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY WILLIAM HAGUE: "We will not allow Mr. Assange safe passage out of the United Kingdom, nor is there any legal basis for us to do so,'' British Foreign Secretary William Hague told a news conference in London. "The United Kingdom does no recognize the principle of diplomatic asylum.''

Wikileaks is old and boring news...best thing the US could do is drop all charges and let it die a death.

Not that simple....the information he released endangered innocent lives and in some cases probably got people killed.

Maybe he should seek asylum in Kenya!

Nice thought. But the Queen and her ministers are playing a game measured in decades and centuries, not years. When India and Pakistan give up their attempts at self government, and are reincorporated into the Empire (along with Tibet, and of course Brazil) you'll understand what I'm talking about.

On that basis, you would not have any ex-presidents.

But, I rather tend to agree, the only place he is going to be safe is encarcerated in the Embassy in London.
