GAC releases early warning list

https://gacweb.icann.org/display/gac...Early+Warnings

Quite a few IDN's in there, mainly product names from Amazon.

Hurrah for the Australians, for standing up to the attempt by corps to lock in generic terms for their own use only.

And to Brazil and Peru for objecting to .amazon! Yay!

This is good, they could alias all .ws to .website and later to .website in IDN.

If they want any chance, they better quickly change the name of the Island from Western Samoa to "Website".

Yes, but thanks to US Environmental Policies they probably won't have to worry about being a ccTLD either. I think to qualify as a country you actually need land area above sea level.

Of course if we have a couple more Sandys then it is always possible the Yanks will wake up to their follies and act according to the Churchill principle.

No and no great desire to go either.

Most visitors to Rome did not fare well.

The idea sounds good if you say it enough times..... then when you realize that it would be oh say 202x something before it ever got around to happening I kinda lose interest. Because even if they alias .ws to .website they still have to apply for the IDN version of .ws which at the earliest woudl be in the next round which is 2017 I believe maybe 2016 not exactly sure on the date, its a ways off JMO

Funny to produce a list without bothering to mention what the objections are. e.g. they are objecting to ".baby".

Also, of note, the EU appears to be putting two fingers up to ICANN and saying "we'll take it from here" ...

Oh well, at least no IDNs on the list!!
