القانوني the legal. for musculine terms

الفواكه the fruits ( slang )
الثمرة the fruit (proper language)

Just one more question, why does the Slang version get about 4 times more results than the proper language one? Is the proper version not used much?

this is the pleural of the proper language term . and yea people rarely use this term in talking or chatting although it is proper .

الثمار is a general and formal term for fruit including those that are not comestible. Can be even used as a metaphor like in "fruits of your investment or effort".
الفواكه is informal and is exclusively used for comestible fruit. With the adjective "dry" added to it it designates nuts, almonds, cashews etc...
