A few questions

I have a few questions before I decide to purchase any IDN's.

1. Is there a page which lists every character that is allowed in an IDN (I just mean accented letters like é)?
2. Also is there a page which lists which characters are on which keyboards (again just for european ones like é, for example would say, appears on French keyboards... etc.)
3. When parking a name am I supposed to enter the actual domain or the punycode? Does it even matter?
4. Rather than translations of words in other languages, is registering domains such as (these are just examples, already taken) séx.com, pórn.com worth it? That's why I'd like to know about my 2nd question, to see which domains are likely to get type-ins.

Thanks for any answers, I look forward to them, apologies if these have been answered elsewhere, please point me in the right direction if they have.

Chris

Re: A few questions

1. If its a character in a language it is valid. Though Latin cant be mixed with Arabic, it can be mixed with Japanese and Chinese
2. Different keyboards: http://www.datacal.com/international-keyboards.htm
See also: http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/i...s/codeint.html
3. Using namedrive I enter the punycode, it gets converted to the unicode automatically.
Sedo, I enter the latin based domain, although this might have to be done twice as it might not get the accents right first time.
4. Rubbish, only used for phishing.

Re: A few questions

Certain words like féminine are actual words that really aren't for phishing.

Just make sure it is a real word in that language.

I would also like to add http://www.unicode.org to the list of helpful sites. This can help you see traditional vs simplified Chinese characters in addition to characters in various languages.

Re: A few questions

You really have to understand what IDNs are.... You shouldn't start registering sex with every punctuation possible.

IDNs = internationalized domain names

words that mean things in other languages

Now that I know they're just used for phishing I won't even bother, I came here asking that question as to be honest I was a little suprised when I found a lot were available, and I definitely don't want to get caught up with that...
I'll definitely stick to actual translated words now.
Thanks.

Re: A few questions

I do know that pseudo-words sell well on Ebay. Probably more as collectibles. I don't think that every one of them is a phishing site. They are just not as useful. For example, a site called s-e-x-y.com may not really be a phishing site, but it is not likely to get typeins.

More importantly, it is not phishing to register those names if you own the real translation. I have some excellent short words and I registered the most likely other versions so that no one can take them and use them for phishing or other purposes. This is not really necessary and only used for your one or two incredible milti-million $ domains.

That is just my opinion.
