Are minisites dead?

Hey guys, I've been away. Hope you've been well. So I'm trying out ParkingCrew as you recommend. Eager for some uplift from namedrive. No russian domains so not worried about that.

Tell me what is the latest on domain development? Are minisites dead in the water? What is the culprit if so? Does it apply to Japan as well?

Anyone have any good tips on getting larger sites done cheap or building out adult sites (again heavy interest in Japanese)

Nice to be back. Lots of familiar names still here.

Rhys

Re: Are minisites dead?

You'll certainly do better at ParkingCrew (well anywhere really) than NameDrive.

Nobody here can answer questions about minisites etc. because as far as I know, nobody here works at Google. Nobody can define what a minisite is, nobody can say what rankings Google will give it. Even if they could, it could all change tomorrow at the whim of Google.

The Panda update did mulcho damage to many sites, mini and otherwise.

The only way to take things slightly out of Google's hands is to develop sites that get type-in traffic. Anything else is just a crap shoot.

Minisites have been hit hard and were among the big losers with the recent updates. I wouldn't say they are completely dead but they don't work as well as they used too. The trend goes toward developing a few selected large sites instead of many small ones. A change which is forced by google in my opinion.

Google not wanting them in their index because of their obsession with "quality content" and because they don't like it when people take advantage of their search index to make money.

Google japan probably. Not sure about yahoo.

Re: Are minisites dead?

The problem is not mini-sites per-se, but the tinkering with the exact match keyword to domain algorithm.

Agreed. If you build a quality site with a lot of genuinely helpful content you are well on your way. Of course, nothing worth having comes without a fight so be prepared to do a bunch of SEO (acquiring links, and social marketing) in order to give your site a boost. The more value you add the better chance you have.

Re: Are minisites dead?

and as far as adult terms go i have a feeling that section will be on a decline unless you build out a full site not affliate marketing . not saying people will watch less just less affliate and more direct advertising but thats just a opinion

We concluded that 4 to 5 years ago.

Seemed be little point considering serious development.

So we just parked and waited.

Having switch to ParkingCrew that strategy is now paying dividends.
