On June 19 ICANN held a webinar:
Tradmark Clearinghouse and IDNs.
I haven't listened to it; I just skimmed the slides. One interesting excerpt:
Currently about 100 trademark records in the TMCH (Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, Russian,…..)
– Cyrillic: 18
– Japanese: 7
– Chinese: 49
– Arabic: 13
– Hebrew: 2
I didn't see any estimates on how many trademarks ICANN expects to be registered, given current trends. Only certain trademarks in the TMCH are eligible for sunrise; I didn't see any statistics on what percentage of the above trademark records are eligible.
The fewer the better, as far as our interests are concerned.
