Verisign puts "HOLD" on ALL .コム Registrations
Verisign has just reported that technical issues, reported by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) would "threaten long-term stability of the Domain Naming System," according to IETF Report 147.b, 2016 for Quarter 1.
All registrants will NOT be affected, apart from "temporary" disabling use of all .コム domains, however, IDNs in the English-Language ".com" will continue to work, as they have been in operation for a number of years, already.
There will be NO REFUNDS, However, ONE FULL YEAR, will be added to all .コム domains, while the technical issues are resolved.
The problems have arisen from the implementation of the IDN Punycode conversion code, which has been installed in all registered servers in the world!
What may come as a shock to may new registrants of the new .コム IDN domains, is that valuation and pricing has gone, "kablooie," as stated by CEO assistant, Garth McConnelly.
The fact that there is no such CEO assistant, named Garth McConnely, should make everyone reading this suspicious. Especially considering that this story comes out on April 1st. Could this be just an April Fools Joke? The answer is a resounding, yes. So, apart from the "premium pricing" issue, all seems to be good in IDN land.
