Anyone interested in a dinner meeting with Dynadot? - IDN Forums

Hi Everyone,

Dynadot here and we wanted to see if anyone was interested in meeting with us to discuss IDNs. We would love to host a dinner and are wondering if people would be interested in meeting in Southern California, Northern California, or in Las Vegas at Namescon in January. We aren't really sure where everyone is located or if any of you are planning to attend Namescon, so please let us know if you're interested and where you'd be interested in meeting with us in the poll below. If your answer is Yes, but somewhere else, please specify where in the comments.

My vote would be Hong Kong. Fairly easy for a lot of us to get to.

Yes, and you would not need to worry about thing like Genetic Modification and Ecoli outbreaks.

Having said that if you want a decent beer with your meal, or even wine come to that, then Czech Republic. Not really in to Mega-Piss or whatever it is they call it now.

Not only that if it is not done before November, then half of us probably won't be allow in by the new Fuhrer.

We aren't like the UK, where you have an election one day, and a new Prime Minister the next. Our electoral process was designed to move at the speed of an 18th-century transportation network, with the result that the new President won't be sworn in until January 20 next year (we've actually modernized a bit; until the 1930s we waited until March to swear in the new President).

Not that it will make any difference to your situation; Chechens are already subject to special scrutiny at the border.

Not much to discuss with Dynadot. I have already decided to move all my domains there as they come up for renewal.

Right now, I have to quirrel all incoming funds away because I have absolutely no idea when the next IDN gTLD will launch, and what extra money I'll have to fork out for "premium" domains during the "priority access rogering".

Thanks to the Chinese "Registrar" wall that exists between Registrants and Registries, Verisign can ignore us completely.

So, Dynadot, if you would like to meet many of us (and we would surely like to meet you) the best thing to do would be to convince Verisign to delay "Premium" pricing until after Priority Access. That way I would know EXACTLY what extra funds I need to register, and whether I have anything free for a jaunt to meet Dynadot.

I still reckon Hong Kong as it has direct flights from most of the places we live at (and has a great airport with a train from airport to city) and we can do side trips to Macau and Shenzhen. :^)

Also, if you require permission, dropping the handbrake and sprogs off at the Disneyland train on the way into town can work wonders.

Kent99 - Thanks so much for choosing us!

Drewbert - We are meeting with Verisign this week and will bring up these concerns. We will also try to get more information from them on the next launches, though they may not even have dates for them with the way ICANN works. No guarantees on anything, but hopefully we'll have some more information for you next week.

Right now, we can't, but we are working with Verisign to see what we can do. Hopefully we'll be able to discount it again soon.

So hopefully SOMETHING should happen next month? I would expect Verisign to speed up releases!

Unfortunately, no. I met with Verisign recently and they did not have any dates for future IDN releases available. I will definitely do a post on here as soon as we do hear anything. I did also pass on the feedback about premiums and they did listen, but I do not know if they can/will make any changes to premiums with future releases. They do appreciate the feedback though!
