I think there should be some added dangers to the "wilderness"
The first thing I would like to say is that the lodestone system needs to be eliminated. For those who only require a walk once, it kills the thrill of exploration. Secondly, the size of clan camps must be reduced by at least a quarter. It removed a significant (in size) forest and caused the Falador-Rimmington-Port Sarim area to become unrealistically joined together.
Lastly, I think there should be some added dangers to the "wilderness" between towns. This could include wild animals attacking you, or natural disasters. Jagex tried to make it with the introduction of Level 5 Highwaymen. They're not significant for all players over 10 levels, and aren't a threat to those smart enough to be able to run.
The dangers you face would be correlated to your skill level and would be less common at higher levels. They could strike you from afar and would be able to end your life, just like random events. This could also reduce botting. But, I would prefer broadening the area. This would be very difficult.
