International domain names were the focus of an AFP news story earlier this month (link below as carried in The Japan Times).
Aside from the gist of the article saying progress is slow, they somehow
never used the term International Domain Name or the acronym IDN.
The article explains "It's thanks to ICANN — the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers — that when you type an address at the top of the screen, your computer can find the webpage you're looking for. These days it's theoretically possible to type an address in more than 150 scripts, including obscure ones like ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, and watch the page load."
So they interviewed Göran Marby, CEO of ICANN.
Overall, a rather weak article, but likely of interest to IDN Forum! Any further thoughts?
