Are Japanese IDNs DEAD???

I've got some of the BEST Japanese IDNs (.com and .コム), and for years - ZERO INTEREST from anyone.

Are these things dead?

Do they have any value? Will they ever?

Just wondering. Been very disappointing.

Re: Are Japanese IDNs DEAD???

They seem to be but it is possible they could come back to life in the future. There is little or no awareness or usage as far as I can see.

Thanks for your answer Kent99.

Yes... I'm also still thinking/hoping "it is possible they could come back to life in the future."

But, it has been a very, very long time already ... about 23 years - since the early IDN.com registrations and about 8 years since the IDN.コム registrations.

BTW...

I don't own ビットコイン.com (BITCOIN), but I do have the full Japanese IDN version ビットコイン.コム and about 5 or 6 years ago I turned down a $5,000 offer for mine. Otherwise, I've had no serious offers for my others.

If you're asking me, I don't really know, but I think they prefer the .co.jp extension.

Portuguese domains I sold in January are
Mãe .com (mother) -4,500
Betão .com ( concrete, big bet)- 10,000
Third domain is at escrow.com now, and it is brechó .com (second hand shop / consignment and thrift store ) - 8,500
It is stuck at escrow for a good week now because of Carnaval in Brazil but if it does not sell I will keep it gladly for later, as second hand shops economy in Brazil is expected to bypass in value the regular fashion outlets by 2030...
I think your major problem with these languages is .com acceptance in the world.
Portuguese and Spanish are fully functional idns already and .com is very welcome in Latin America.
As far as other languages, it's not easy to give advice.
In my opinion, each language has different perspectives.
Development would help and keep faith. I you have good domains, their time will come!
If you have too many, trim your portfolio and put it aside.
Before you jump into Portuguese (Brazil) domains, don't! It's extremely difficult market that started to pick up only in the last year or two...
One is really supposed to know his ways here (as in any language, I suppose).
It is, however, very promising with large population and stable political system.

saúde .com is great
I also like empréstimo/s. com, lotería .com, í .com
But saúde .com is really the one to keep and sell only for big bucks!
saude .com.br developed... as far as saude.com ascii, my attitude to these is simple: if this domain is to be used strictly for Brazil and Portuguese speakers, (as in this case), idn variant is more valuable and nobody in the right mind would start developing on ascii .com domain without idn .com (com.br is a different story). And with time, the value of ascii .com without accent where there is a need for one, will tend to drop vs idn .com, imho.
So, your saúde .com is a senior domain for such a great category!
