Re: Sedo takes IDN further

Good find, I think Rubber Duck posted that he is helping them test some idns on their system. Good for idns to have a highly visible company to put forth resources and support, another sign that things are starting to come into place for IE7. On the negative, I think they are cornering the drops coming thru their system.

The option of language targeted ads based on traffic origination is obviously big. Any idea if NameDrive is working on this?

I came across Eds post- he is with Namedrive and member here:

Hi guys,

Sorry for my delay on this. I've been travelling non-stop for the last 3 days and have only had patchy internet access. I can see that there are rumblings of discontent, and I've just had an long chat about IDN performance with one of your number. The breakdown being this:

We are seeing IDN traffic varying wildly from day to day. With certain days peaking across accounts not only across individual portfolios.
CTR generally seems to be down significantly since the beginning of the month.
Saturday had a massive traffic spike.

I have to pick up here on Touchring's tip at the bottom of his posts: Tip: NameDrive specialises in IDN parking. Sadly, I have to dispute that. We specialise in European traffic parking and are still finding our feet in IDN parking. I can understand that the few steps in the right direction that we have taken compared to other services may seem to suggest we are way ahead of the game but we all have a background in non-IDN traffic and have learned most of what we know from this forum and extremely useful feedback from our customers.

As a result, I'm wary to stick my neck out on my explanations for any of these events as many of you know a great deal more about this sort of traffic than I do. We are checking everything we can our end to try and find the cause for the massive spike on Saturday - which was seen across every one of our IDN accounts. I have always heard it banded around about Asian traffic that bots and spiders are far more prevalent than elsewhere and that may be true and may explain the spikes. I appreciate that the varying numbers makes it difficult to really judge what's going on with your IDN traffic and it is extremely frustrating for us to try and understand exactly what is happening here.

I know that there are rumblings of discontent on this forum about how we reflect revenue and traffic. I can only assure you that we are doing this in as transparent a way as possible. Our main goal was always to remain open and transparent in an industry where parking companies' customers have nothing but suspicion of how they are being treated. I want to stress that none of this is us 'fiddling' anything. We stand nothing to gain by stealing views or clicks and it is totally against our philosophy to do so. I'm not saying that it is not our system that it at fault, but none of these discrepancies are due to us consciously trying to con anyone.

We will try and get to the bottom of what is going on with the traffic, though I'm sure that tech will attribute it to 'bots, spiders' etc. We know full well that other people are trying to get in on the IDN side of things and we hope not to lose our momentum on this. We can't send people to meet with Chinese government officials, but we can try and improve our system to get your CTR up to where it wants to be and get Google to show the darn ads for your keywords.

Ed

MY ERROR; They are just getting into the parking game. QUOTE FROM RUBBER DUCK: If anyone is interested, Sedo now appear to be taking all IDN on their dot com site including Arabic and Russian. I am not rushing back immediately, but it is a positive move for all us as at least there is going to be competition in the IDN parking market which cannot be a bad thing. Time will tell whether they really are going to really compete at the top level.
