Re: Are there any dictionary words left in JAPANESE OR CHINESE? (or other countr
Quote:
The Tags are required by ICANN so they can set future rules, but as the only rule in implementation is what characters are allowed to be registered in the first place, it would seem that this now done automatically otherwise if you were registering Traditional Chinese as Afrikanns, it would not be able to figure out whether or not Simplified Chinese was permissible. I think it is probably just a legacy load of nonsense. Anyway until they start trying to sort out character blocks on Afrikans, which probably will be almost non existent as being similar to Dutch, it doesn't have too many accents, it shouldn't cause too many problems. Don't think Google or Yahoo or the DNS check these Tags in any way whatsoever! Best Regards Dave Wrixon

Re: Are there any dictionary words left in JAPANESE OR CHINESE? (or other countr
I have made this mistake many times myself.
Several of my Arabic domains are Africaans. I don't think this will be a major issue, but imagine the uproar though if it did matter. Idns are sold daily and transferred between registrars as well. If you purchased a domain on the secondary market you have no way of knowing what tag it was registered under originally. Imagine if you paid $x,xxx or even higher for a domain and all of a sudden "someone" said, sorry, it was originally registered under the wrong language so it is therefore invalid!
