I can create the UTF & save the file just fine. Readability is not a problem. It is the FTP upload that messes it up half the time. Anyone have any suggestions?

It sounds like it has something to do with the file interface, a pure file upload won't change a thing, try and use fireftp for firefox, this shouldn't give any problems.
