How valuable are Japanese city .com's & .net's really?

Just thinking out loud here guys...

When IDN's boom in Japan (a certainty), and if .jp becomes the extension of choice (a possibility), will all those with Jp city portfolio's in .com's & .net's have wasted their money?

Will we find there is little to no interest in these, as a Japanese city IDN with the .jp extension will be seen as the more genuine and therefore the most highly prized?

I think the Japanese cities in .jp are blocked (reserved) by the Japanese registry.
That was information supplied by Olneys research early on, if anyone knows different, please post.

All other cities should be valuable for building information sites and selling advertising "real estate".
The .coms should be worth the most.

Sorry to see Australia lose to Brazil today, we were pulling for them.

City names .jp are reserved, so for commercial development, .com is the only alternative. And as is the case for ascii city domains, end users only develop for bigger cities, or tourist cities. Smaller cities might have to be monetized via parking pages, and this work provided there is enough traffic.
