Anyone else get one of these?

Hi Wrixon,

I am writing to inform you that xn--bck3d8a4h.COM is expiring and may be released to the public within the next few days

There is a good chance that there will be several interested parties attempting to capture this domain when it is released, these will vary from parties with a genuine interest to domain name speculators otherwise known as cyber squatters who often put large price tags on such domains.

We are domain acquisition specialists and I felt that as the owner of xn--bck3d8a4h.net you would have a much more genuine interest in acquiring xn--bck3d8a4h.COM.

If you would like us to try and acquire this domain on your behalf then please let me know by 25th June 2006.
The sooner you let me know the more chance we have of acquiring the domain.

If you are genuinely interested, then I recommend you either call me on (UK +44) (0) 870 808 0073 or email me a number so that I can call you, as any delays in email communication could result in missing out on this domain.

Kind Regards

Gary Willicott

Re: Anyone else get one of these?

no i haven't.

but what is more interesting is that these type of companies are targeting IDN's now.

or is their automated script just picking them up like any other domain - and in fact they just haven't made a choice of targetting IDN's?

I got one for an ASCII domain a while ago.

I filed it appropriately.

Re: Anyone else get one of these?

Not that one, but letters from "listingcorp.com" wanting to renew our expired idns for "only" $35 per year. It appears like an invoice, but has a disclaimer "This is not a bill, This is a solicitation". Probably targeting companies where it might get paid by accident.

And also got ANOTHER from "ilscorp.net" wanting to renew our idns for "only" $65 per year. Same disclaimer, but looks more like an invocie, not doubt intended to deceive. Oh...for that price you get 8 keywords submitted to search engines. Whoopee. lol

SOLD !!!

Come on, these companies really take the p*ss with things like this. Its just a shame that some recipients actually fall for it ( especially when they are presented as an actual invoice !! ) I had a sack of these type of letter ( about 50 or so) a year or two ago. I was actually quite happy to receive them, as I needed some scrap paper at the time.

Re: Anyone else get one of these?

I had a letter the other day from my registrar saying that my domain xxxx was only registered for 1 year, and that to be taken seriously as a business, it should be registered for more years.

i supposed you could look at it that way.. still, nice try.

Re: Anyone else get one of these?

Actually, I previously got some offering to sell me the domains for $98, when I checked some of the names were good and available, so I just registered them. Some firms monitor drops and then offer to sell what has not been take up. Back along some of the IDN offered in this way were good because nobody was picking up on them. Now, it would seem unlikely that they actually have an inside track or even a vague understanding.

I am always puzzled why these premium owners don't know about idnf. They can easily sell these domains here for $xxxx even $xx,xxx. This domonstrates that one can actually get a real bargain through direct whois email contact -- there are premium domain owners do not treat their domain as valuable assets and are willing to let them go for a low price.

On the other hand, the tripoduk service is a sign of idn getting more popular.

not always..........
Once when I emailed the whois they reregistered the domain and offered it to me for $2k..........(Non IDN)

much more than what I was gonna get it for with snapnames.com etc (Would have gotten it if it wasn't for my big mouth in contacting the person ;P)

Re: Anyone else get one of these?

Has snapnames started dealing with idn yet?

Once a (idn) domain is dropped, I found it is almost impossible to get it. It either gets variant block (such as the Japanese map.com dropped few days ago, or end up in an uncontactable strange person's hands. It is different with ASSII domains that you can always use multiple drop catchers to acquire them.
