Re: Domainsite data corruption - GIANT,I need your help !

Hello. I am the lucky one that gets to come on here and give you the official DomainSite response. First, the issue is not related to any kind of hardware failure, system failure, or data loss. The reason the domain names were deleted was due to employee error and only affected a limited number of domain names registered on 2006-08-29 or 2006-08-30, depending on your time zone. The affected registrars were Spot Domain LLC, Name.com LLC, and Name.net LLC. 225 domains got deleted and 216 have been restored to date. There are 9 domains that we have not been able to get back.

We can't turn back the clock on this so there isn't any thing we can really do other than apologize and let you know that steps have been taken to ensure that this does not happen again. We want to compensate those that have lost a domain as well as make up for the overall headache this has caused for those who's domains were affected. For the people on this forum that have lost domains due to this issue we are going to credit your account $100.00 per domain lost as compensation for the domain. For those that have domains that were affected, but we were able to get back for them, we are going to give you enough account credit to register one free domain per domain affected.

Please contact me directly at owen@name.com with your domainsite.com, name.com, or name.net user name that was affected. Once confirmed, we will give your account the appropriate credit.

Again, I am just the messenger and you know what they say about not shooting the messenger. Our goal isn't to lose customer domain names and any time we do make a mistake we strive to make up for the error. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me directly or post them here. I will monitor this post for a few days and reply to any questions or concerns that may come up.

Thank you,
Owen Borseth
