Talking Portugal Alé! Portugal Alé!

I just came home (7:00AM local time) from the big party and this is the off topic forum, thus, please forgive me, but here it goes:

PORTUGAL ALÉ ! PORTUGAL ALÉ !

English were singing: “It’s coming home; it’s coming home (the cup)”

But they now have to change the lyrics to “We’re coming home; we’re coming home”.

Lots of English crying into their beers right now.

And Brazilian's wondering if they're tickets home will work.

Congrats to Portugal & France.

But if what has been served up as the world showcase of the "beautiful game ' over the last few weeks and this is where football is heading then I will stick to watching rugby.

Agreed, this worldcup has been dramatic in terms of techniques and combinations, most of the times teams were in strategic deadlocks.

The game is ruined by conservative (read: cowardly) trainers and incompetent arbitration.

Congrats to the portuguese fans though .

I regret to say it, but I think the USA might have been right when it demanded bigger goal posts.

The logic now seems to be that you can defend so effectively at this level that you don't need to attack the opposition. That surely has to be bad for the game. A small increase in the size of the goal would greatly increase the uncertainty regarding the defensive strategies and would make the teams play for goals. We don't want to make scoring easy, but it must be the objective!

What I would suggest is an extra 100mm all the way around (100mm taller and 200mm wider), and just for First Class Football. Leave the lower leagues and amateur games as they are.

ROFLOL

did you watch the slo-motion replays of the fouls?

Hilarious, here's how it goes:

1) England player stands on the toe of Portugal player by mistake

2) Portugal player goes down like they have been shot with an elephant gun,

3) Then nurses his toe, by holding his leg and his face, complaining they were punched

4) If they get England a card, they pull themselves up, and "struggle on"

5) If they dont get England a card, they leap up and run of chasing the ball again, pain miraculously disappeared.

Clearly Portugal are a talented team, but they have no shame. They are cheats, and should all be given Oscars never mind a worldcup trophy.
