There is no easy answer to this one unfortunately. The reason is that the space modifies the last character in some languages such as Arabic so a space is allowed. In other languages such as Chinese a space is not tolerated and the registrar will normally return an indication that domain has been taken, when infact it was never permissible.

Hi Dave,
Definitively blank spaces are not tolerated for french. The IDB registration system of Domainsite seems to accept them when ordering, but I got them all back as failed orders.
