Re: Whois Hijacking My Domain Research?

My score - http://www.nerdtests.com/images/ft/cg.php?val=5564

Another question it should ask is: What is your CPU and OS?

I'm running Pentium 3 500Mhz, Windows 2000 Professional. I've not reinstalled the OS since 2004.

Hehe.

That spawned the home video game industry with Magnavox Odyssey home game system probably 1970, followed by Atari, and then the "Mattel Intellivision" with its slide in game cards and little gold pad! Then college years, where part of basic courses were Fortran and Cobalt computer language programming, but most were not interested and still did not see the possiblities. Anyway, that late 60's, early 70's period is still a memory blur!

I'll trade you my 87 for your 42 + some hot chicks.

Not teasers either. Ones that really WILL let me give them a RAM upgrade.

Re: Whois Hijacking My Domain Research?

-A nerd or a geek just means you have spent a lot of time on something and are particularly good on it, but it does not mean you will have less social skills because you are a geek.

-A child if is healthy and raised properly and with decent education, he will be ok with his social skills regardless how he will spend his time later.

-A domainer that can make use the Whois databases and hijack people's domain research is a proof that he is good in dealing with people. To write a program to access the Whois database is easy, but to convince the owner of the database to let him access it and steal the info requires very good social skills.

-The 2 young owners of Google were able to persuate Yahoo and some other companies to try and use their search system when they were still students demonstrated they had good social skills. You don't have to spy on them if they had girl friends to go out with to prove that.

Re: Whois Hijacking My Domain Research?

Score: 100.

Overall, you scored as follows:

0% scored higher (more computer geeky),
0% scored the same, and
100% scored lower (less geeky).

Compared to those in the same age group as you:

0% scored higher (more computer geeky),
0% scored the same, and
100% scored lower (less geeky).
What does this mean? Your computer geekiness is:

Step aside Bill Gates, Linus Torvalds, and Steve Jobs... You are by far the SUPREME COMPUTER GOD!!!

RD, please try to refrain from using foul language
on this forum; I know you get angry and frustrated
and it may well feel like there is no other way to express
yourself (see above re: social/interpersonal skills) but
you must try to understand that other people find it
offensive...

There are, apparently, 595 members of this forum
- where are they?? For a defined 'niche' such as IDN,
I would expect very many more of these members to
be making a contribution to this forum but the only
thing I ever see on this forum are the same names
- about a dozen or so people who seem to spend
every waking hour on here.

I think one of the reasons that many of them stay away
is because of the foul/silly postings, like the one RD made.

Olney: why not send members a bulk email reminding
them that idnforum.com is still here and that you are
looking forward to hearing their contributions and views...

Who knows, that may kickstart some enthusiasm and we
might then start to see a real diversity of opinion.

Regards

Apologise if I have offended anyone.

In the UK, this is considered Irony and what you might expect to see on mainstream TV.

Best Regards

I think busy working, sleeping, eating, having sex or researching and registering idns! And not necessarily in that order.
And for some of these tasks, you can do two at once. lol

Re: Whois Hijacking My Domain Research?

I think there may be some merit in sending out a monthly or even weekly newsletter which summarises developments for those that do have time to cover all the threads. Of course the editor would not only need to be knowledgable, but also have a sharp sense of humour that is appreciated by the vast majority. Perhaps some of us on this thread are not suited to be arbiteurs of what generally would qualify as good humour.

The most number of users ever online was 277. That's over 50% simultaneously. Clearly, things are running on a good track. I think you can save the direct mail campaign for another day (which I doubt from this point will ever come).

If we are basing our actions on statistics, it is important that the raw figures are correctly interpreted. We currently have 595 registrations, but I am not sure how many Dabsi and Sahoo account for. The numbers online also include non-members and most importantly Bots which have a habit of spiking. I think we may have broke 40 members online at any give time, but many of these could have been asleep at the wheel or even out of the house at the time.

I don't think there would be anything against producing a regular bulletin, but this would only improve interest if the right compiler was chosen. I would definitely have to pass as some members have already expressed the view that hear more than enough of me. Other members on here might have opposite the intended effect. However, I am sure that some would fit this task very well. I think Mulligan or Alpha would do a sound job if either were interested.

Don't worry RD, I got the joke.

People in some countries don't understand British humour.
