And, there are still good domains, if you do the work.

Over the last few days, I got...

オレンジジュース.com (orange juice)
朝食.com (breakfast)
宿題.com (homework, assignment)
ミルク.com (milk)
ハンマー.com (hammer)
屋根.com (roof)

Today, I picked up: 挨拶.com (greeting, salutation)

what is the investment thesis?

what exactly is the investment hypothesis on low ovt single word generic IDNs like orange juice and milk. I imagine that experience has shown that such words hold great resale value to companies related to those categories even without natural traffic.

Curious to hear testimonials from the experienced folks out there. Looking at the .com english equivalents "roof", "orangejuice", and "milk" just now - nothing smelled like money to me even years into the rush.

Not trying to dampen anyone's parade, just trying to realistically assess where my investment dollars ought to be spent.

I believe you're right, but it's fun to keep panning for those gold nuggets! Acutally, it's an addiction, for which I am seeking help.

I don't think anyone could have, or would have planned an encoding/decoding scheme (punycode) to put "666" or "666d" (666 Devil) in an xn--DOMAIN (for "hell") for the purpose of a joke. So the possibilities are...

1) It was done intentionally as a joke by the creators of punycode
2) It is a very big coincidence
OR ...
3) Lucifer had his hand in this!

(I guess the devils in the details)

Okay I will take a stab at decoding Lucifer's message. Since Lucifer/666 is a Judeo-Christian concept.

"Catholic Evil Spawned 666 the Devil."

There's my take.

Don't show this to the detractors at DN Forum.

It is probably the very proof they have been looking!!!

Yes, btw, I hope no one got offended by my statement. It was only a joke, I respect everyones religion and am not here for religious debates but for learning, buying, selling idn. But I can see how someone might take this the wrong way.

And Dave yes, you are correct. But in a few months time "what they think" will really be insignifigant, as I am already getting traffic on many names, much traffic is coming on my Russian and Japanese domains, where browser support is still only 4% in much of asia.

The ones that are threatened by idn's have a right to be threatened. english.in, english.cn, english.jp are going to become as extinct as dinosaurs, effectively wiping out many people's investments. Of course good keywords will always be worth money, no matter what language and country code but for the vast majority I expect to see a lot of drops!

The logic in ascii seems to be from a domainers point of view, "I can't speak chinese, but I know english, so I will register as many english domains in other country codes until I hit one, cause let's face it, everyone speaks english anyways."

Yes, I have take a lot of flak trying to protect naive investors at DN Forum
from the Dot IN "Goldrush".

Don't think too many listened, but I did my best!!! Many of the smart Alecs there will be laughing on the other side of their faces.

Everything but the International Terms that just don't need translation will be worthless, in my Opinion (don't bother with IMHO as nobody believes me anyway!)

Proper analysis involves trying to see things from the User's or Buyer's perspective. This critical approach is often distinctly lacking amongst those that get hung out to dry!!!

Pride is a dangerous thing. We should never underestimate the power of denial. When critical thinking applies to ourselves, often the result is of negative nature. Which let's face it, no one likes to admit about themselves.

The more they fight it, the more room is left for us in this field. When the reality of the situation is quite clear.
------------------------------------------------------

Microsoft has admitted to IE7 broswer support of IDN. The leaked screenshots, and betas confirm this!

Firefox already allows IDNs.

Google and Yahoo are already allowing idn to show up in the url of search results. Seo is very real possibility for these domains.

Google is expanding adsense to many countries that have yet to be touched, ie RUSSIA!

Icann and Verisign have been planning this for many, many, years. We are in the 3rd phase of this implimentation. The fourth and final phase will finally be realized with IE7 and the conversion of .com, .jp, .cn into unicode themselves.

Counties are already building sites on them.
-----------------------------------------------

There is no room for their pride anymore. Most cannot see this and will sink when this ship pulls into harbor. These will not just be from missle attacks, but from the weight, and denial of outdated thinking.
